Let me just say, magic is NEVER only about the actual trick.
There is much MUCH more to magic than just the tricks part.
For example, there is a lot of thinking that goes on behind any jaw-dropping illusion. During a good magic performance, everything, and I really mean EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
In today’s video I share with you a really powerful tip on how to perform simple magic tricks. So many people think that simple tricks are a bad idea and that your audience may not like it. But nothing can be further from the truth. These tricks only seem simple when you already know the secret behind the performance.
Don’t forget that your audience only sees that performance part of the magic, and in most cases, they won’t even have a clue how the trick actually works (especially when you’ve done a good job building it up and performing it well) and they won’t realize how easy the trick really is!
In other words, NEVER assume that a trick may be too simple for making a massive impact on your audience. Test everything, and keep everything that works!
So enjoy today’s video. I think you will learn quite a few nice little insider “tricks of the trade” that most magicians will never want to share with you… (shhhh, don’t tell anyone!)

levaloshon is e-z look it up on youtube you don’t neen “special gimmicks” stupid put two feet together and turn uround so you face away from the people, test out angles tell your left foot blocks the view of the top of your right.they should be able to see your heel but not your toes . then use your toes on your right foot and push up your left foot and keep your heel levle with left foot.

I know of about a half a dozen different videos that show you how to levitate. The harder the levitation,..the more expensive they are. The more remarkable levitation’s require building a rather costly gimmick. Andrew Mayne? Has a few videos out on the subject but I can’t testify to how good they are because I have not purchased them. Jay Jay isn’t going to reveal anything of that nature. Show us how to make one coin disappear and four coins appear in it’s place. I couldn’t fool my 10 year pld with these silly little tricks!

I completly agree what you say in the vid. My problem with magic is that the trick works fine .. everything looks amazing but i can’t do the cleanup… wich needs some misdirection.. Its like the little coin trick you show on the video.. i can’t make some misdirection to drop the coin or just put it away… how do you do that?

Buy yourself a retrackable reel made for your keys and such. Cheap! Make yourself a gimmick that will vanish a quarter(actually into your pocket) No misdirection needed. Just let the gimmick do all the work!

I totally agree with you, even if the trick(s) look simple but the way you built up the presentation is good, audience will be damn shocking amazed…
Regarding this coin trick, once you make the coin disappear, have you encounter audience asking you to open your other hand? or audience straight away say the coin is in your other hand?
It is never a huge issue…because all their focus is on that hand….

You see i have one question, to show people “magic” i have to introduce myself, because if you just come and say” hey,watch this” it is not really good, do you have any good open line just to warm up people on the steets before showing the trick?Btw people, from this tricks YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN,just use this method! Actually i’m modifying almost all tricks i see in videos to make them more siutable for me.For example i using your method from mind trick, when you just let people say stop when ever they want and then cut the deck,show the card than just “read” thair mind and guess which card thay saw.

There many ways you could make a coin appear. after you made the coin dissapear just reach out in the air with your empty hand and pretend that you reaching for something and then just make a move that your trowing the coin in the other hand … and vola the coin reapeard in the other hand

I mean sometimes when I performing this kind of trick they would say ‘It’s in the other hand’ or ’show your other hand’
It’s sucks when you performing for a big crowd where you don’t have any option to hide the other hand

The reason why they say these things is they are skeptical or wary of you. Because you say your a magician or you are going to fool them.
So what I try and do is let them feel up my sleeve, shuffle the cards, really check everything little detail before I start so they will not care so much when I perform.

Hey Zack , Basicly I personaly never use this kinda trick by it self I would only use it with kids and then make in appear behind their hears or something,,,, But in my begining when I did use this kind of vanish what I was doing to have hands empty I always told the people the people I needed to go in my pocket to get a special wand or something and then drop the coin in my pocket and then come out with even my lighter and made people laught and then show both hands completly empty…. But if you go in your pocket or something make sure you tell audience that your going to your pocket for something then less chance they will thing your doing something sneaky always give them a reason why your gooing to your pocket … hope that helps ,,, but as for me I use a complete routine with this one all together and works great for me I statr with empty hands and finish with empty hands but use a routine that your comfortable with and just use diferend vanish and and aperence all together and you will come up with a good little routine …

i preformed that trick to my friends once and they knew it was in my other hand and got any tricks that can get me the girls.
I also had that problem also, simple trick was kinda dumb. but putting practice in the little simple magic I now make people jaws fall to the ground,,, it great practice practice and practice some more and not only the magic but the presentation,,,,,

hi jay.i follow some of your idea and practice for a couple of month and ur right…i got that jaw dropping moment from my pals and stay there for about 30 second….they can’t even speak a word and they all are stunned by it…but it’s just the card force trick i learnt and added a little horror story and it really works…u rock jay….and there is a levitation that called budelli or something levitation…it don’t need any gimmick…btw…u really a powerfull magician…

Jay Jay, what you say is so, so true. It is not the effect that creates the buzzz! It is the presentation that sells it and amazes and baffles the audience. For example, I have read that Houdini was not that good at card tricks and sleights but his showmanship was absolutely sensational. Result: He is the man everyone thinks of as THE magician.
This video is complitly right . It’s all about you and only the trick . Many famous street magicians (like dynamo , my favourite dtreet magician) do easy card forces tricks and nobody understand how they do it . Jay jay can u do an interview with dynamo , i’m begging u

You’ve hit the nail on the head! Anyone can do a trick, but the real magic is HOW the trick is presented. I try to make a story out of every trick I do. The story is how you keep the audience interested. Lilke the “Crazy Man’s Handcuffs” trick. I made up a story about Harry Houdini in France and how the French police have a new device even he can’t escape from. I show the rubberbands interlocked and then I have the spectator blow on them. I finish by saying “But I’m Harry Houdini, and I can get out of anything!” I really blow away my audience, but the secret is simple. What all your fans need to realize is you need to PRACTICE the tricks all the time until the movements become second nature to you. Even if the secret is simple. Like almost all of magic is! Keepo up the GREAT job of sharing your magic.

I understand what you are saying about the presentation of the trick and that is very important, but in the coin trick you showed, I think everyone knows the coin is in your other hand. But it would be even more impressive if the coin also disappeared from your other hand also.
That is what I mean by your tricks are too easy. Extend this trick to make the coin disapear from your other hand and it will surely impress the spectator.

Hello Jay Jay,
First, to the person that says these simple effects can’t fool or amaze a child. Clearly you have not actually performed these effects. I use these and many others in my day to day walk around and close up performances. I fry them every time! Just because a technique is simple does not mean it is easy. Magic, especially close up/sleight of hand magic is tough. You cannot expect to practice for five minutes and then go out and perform for people. Especially family and friends. They know all you tells. You have take the time to practice and perfect these effects. If you really want to do your magic justice…practice, practice and then practice some more. I am trying not to sound preachy but I have been doing magic for a very, very long time. I know from what I speak. Jay Jay has legitimate practical advice. Read books and ask other magicians for advice. That’s how we all learn to,be better. Don’t give up. It will come. But you need patience. But practice and some mirror work will go a long way. Good Luck!
The gift of gab is a very useful tool in magic. Just as important is to develop your character. Then to be able to stay in character..When I am performing I tend to be a cross between a Gothic Criss Angel and a comedian. I love to make people laugh as a way of misdirection. Also it helps to lover any stage fright I may have.
There is nothing wrong with simple trick cuz spectators usually over think about the trick anyways. Also as your arsenal of tricks grow you can take a simple trick and manipulate it into something bigger that will fit into the character you play.
It’s fun to make them think you’ve messed up, really bad. That usually makes them laugh with surprise.
Sometimes I wish there were more videos on how to make a presentation.
I’ve got the tricks down and can perform them in my sleep, but I just feel as if I’m doing them, not performing them. People are amazed after the effect, but I’m not sure I have them near the beginning.
If you can make more videos on presentation, then I would be extremely happy about that(and if you could make a presentation that was age appropriate for me, I’m 14, that would be really cool, ’cause a lot of patter includes stuff that minors can’t do. Sorry if I’m asking too much)

Hey Jay Jay, I was thinking, after the coin drop, would it be better if you palmed it, so that you can sort of open your hands to sort of ’show’ that its empty, i think if you keep your hand closed like that it may not seem believable that it is vanished and not in your hand. Just something to think about, thanks for the tip on how to make a trick more convincing, i will try to keep that in mind next time i perform.

I agree with you totally jay jay. When I do my card tricks, i use comedy and create stories to make a very simple double lift magic into something grand for my spectators and we all know its a very simple trick. Its all about THE PRESENTATION and if we make a good presentation for a simple trick, the magic looks “powerful” and eventually it looks like a very difficult trick to do. Ive done the disappearing pepper shaker trick and let my friends focused totally on the coin. And when its done, all of them kept asking how did i do it. I told them, go find jay jay…hahahah..

You have a great point. However, in this specific case of the coin vanish if you only do the one vanish, you have to be able to end clean because most people’s reaction will be: “what?!…, wait, show me the other hand.

My favourite thing to do with the french drop is not to telegraph it is going to vanish cuz everyone knows how the french drop is done but rather to say i found this coin and wonder if it is a spectators. Then I reach over, french drop and make as if to pass it to them. Then when it vanishes you can say, oh it’s been doing that for a while or w/e.

the coin disappearing trick i can do but most of the time people try to look for how the trick is done and then they find out how to do it. Can you tell me how to do it without them trying to look for how the trick is done.
hey man im no jay jay but i can help….. go on youtube and find another coin trick which you can do straight after to finish the trick with no coin in your hand at all….. what you can do if your at a table is use sit down…. do that trick jay jay just did then. be like but the coin actully jumped to here…. then drop the coin on the table…. go to pick it up again by sliding the coin along the table to the edge instead of actully grabbing it drop it on your lap….. but it looks like you picked it up then pretend to put it in your hands or what ever but then its actully gone….. and there done no coin to be seen
