I recommend using paper cards.
Plastic cards are not the best.

For people that don’t already know how to do this, I’m sorry, but your not a magician, if you really do magic with cards then this is one of the first basics you learn. This probably won’t be posted, but go pick up a copy of The Royal Road to Card Magic for only about $20-30. It’s the best book on card magic there is, every true card magician will agree to that.

Try picking up the svengali deck. I have one of those and it works the charm every time. (I got it while on a cruise to alaska. weird. there was one of the second-best magicians in the states there.:)
